A franchisee for a national fast food chain appears to have halted its plans to build the chain's first location in Auburn.
Sonic Drive-In franchisee Soar Restaurants II LLC has withdrawn its site plan application to the city's planning board for a Sonic location on Grant Avenue, Deputy Director of Planning and Development Stephen Selvek told мÓƶà¶à¿ª½±¼Ç¼ last week.
The board reviewed and tabled the application at its June meeting. It called for the demolition of the residence at 132-134 Grant Ave. and the construction of a 1,227-square-foot Sonic there.
The Auburn Planning Board will begin reviewing the site plan application on Tuesday.
The restaurant would have had a drive-thru and 10 stalls for car-side service, as well as a parking lot, according to the application submitted by the developer. Purchase of the vacant property from current owner Catherine Guter et al. was contingent on the board's approval of the application.

The board raised no major concerns about the application at the meeting. According to the , it was tabled while the city's engineering department reviewed a storm water pollution prevention plan. A traffic study by the New York State Department of Transportation was also noted as being needed.
Sonic's communication team and Soar Restaurants did not respond to requests for comment by мÓƶà¶à¿ª½±¼Ç¼.
Sonic has more than 3,500 locations in the U.S., with Soar operating them in 20 states.
