Two men pleaded guilty to drug charges in Cayuga County Court this week.
Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci said in a news release Friday that Seraphin Moniz, 30, of Auburn, pleaded guilty before Judge Thomas Leone on Thursday to third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (a Class B felony) and second-degree attempted assault (a Class E felony).
He faces seven years in state prison followed by three years of post-release supervision, and is set to be sentenced Feb. 27.
Members of the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at Moniz's residence on May 6 and found about 6 ounces of cocaine, Grome Antonacci said. A Cayuga County grand jury issued a sealed indictment against him in September, and he was arrested by the Auburn Police Department in October. An officer received lacerations to his right arm and knee when Moniz tried to run from police, the district attorney added.

On Monday, Paul Bovee, 37, of Syracuse, pleaded guilty before Leone to third-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance (a Class C felony).
He faces five years in state prison followed by 1.5 years of post-release supervision. The sentence would run consecutive to a sentence Bovee is already serving. He will be sentenced Feb. 13.
Bovee was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation in Auburn on May 9, Grome Antonacci said. Police discovered a backpack Bovee had with him that had over an ounce of cocaine.
