Seymour Library in Auburn will hold a budget referendum and trustee election on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
Voting will be open to all residents of the library district, which includes the city of Auburn and parts of the towns of Owasco, Sennett and Fleming, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day at the library, 176-178 Genesee St., Auburn. Absentee ballots are also available.
The of $1,100,310 would be funded by $1,043,250 in property taxes, marking a tax levy increase of 7% from the 2024 budget's $975,000 in tax revenue. Because the state tax cap is 2%, the library's board of trustees unanimously a resolution to override the cap at its July meeting. Library Director Lisa Carr told мÓƶà¶à¿ª½±¼Ç¼ last year such increases are needed due to rising costs.

One trustee will be elected from the city of Auburn, town of Owasco and town of Fleming (the portion in the Auburn Enlarged City School District) each. Russell Harkins and Kimberly Schulze have submitted petitions to represent Auburn and Fleming, respectively, and no petitions have been received for Owasco.
