ALBION - William "Duke" M. Kinsella, 66, of Albion, NY, and formerly of Auburn, passed away at Unity Hospital in Rochester on Friday, October 18, 2024.
Bill or "Red" or "Duke" as he was known, was born in Rochester, NY, the son of the late William F. and Mary E. (Lane) Kinsella. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1976 and was recognized for his devotion and commitment to the Auburn High School Varsity Hockey Team as their Equipment Manager.
Red was well known throughout Auburn, working at the Cayuga County Highway Dept., Auburn Parks Dept., and several retail and restaurant establishments. He volunteered at Home Helpers through Cayuga County Office for Aging.
Duke was an avid sports enthusiast and could be found watching sports from his favorite chair on any given day. He would often cite performance statistics for a multitude of players, teams and divisions. Even while hospitalized, Duke was still receiving multiple sports magazines.
If you met Red once, you never forgot your encounter with him or his wife Maureen. They were ardent cat lovers, and fixtures at all home Auburn Astros and Doubledays games.
Billy leaves behind, his brother, Thomas Kinsella (Diane Daniels); sons: Arin (Sherri Quillan), Shawn (Stephanie) Kinsella; three granddaughters: Olianna, Olivia and Omelia; and nephew, Tommy Kinsella.
In addition to his parents, Billy was also predeceased by his wife, Maureen (Sheppard) and beloved feline friend, Sandy.
Calling hours are Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. with services at 11:30 a.m. at Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.
