AUBURN - James (Jim) Kukiela, 72, of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on December 7, 2024 following a brief illness.
A lifelong resident of the Auburn area, he was the son of the late Alvin and Helen Kushnir Kukiela. He graduated from Mount Carmel High School, and Auburn Community College. In younger years he worked at ACME Markets, and later retired from Wegman's Markets. Following retirement Jim was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
Jim was a parishioner of St. Hyacinth's Church of Sts. Mary and Martha Parish, always attending weekly mass. He led a quiet life and was a kind and gentle man.
He is survived by his brother, William (Linn) Kukiela, and his sister, Sharon (Joe) Bennett. He was uncle to Jackie (Keith) Gibbs, Matt, Amber and Emily Kukiela; nephews, Lucas, Kukiela, Paul and Bennett Gibs. He is also survived by several cousins especially Serge and Sandy Kostun of Endicott.
Friends are invited to attend Jim's Mass of Christian Burial at 11:45 a.m., Tuesday in St. Hyacinth's Church. Please consider donating in Jim's memory to St. Hyacinth's Church or a local food pantry.
