AUBURN - Betty (Bosheena) J. French, 89, of Auburn, passed away surrounded by her loving family on December 14, 2024, at Auburn Community Hospital. Born in Conquest, N.Y., on January 29, 1935, Betty was the daughter of the late Frederick and Lucille (Moore) Burghdorf. In her younger years, Betty enjoyed riding horses, ice skating, bingo and being outdoors. Later in life she looked forward to going out to lunch with family or having a cold beer with her second family at O'Toole's Tavern. She was a scratch off fanatic and always used the same two pennies to scratch. Her afternoons consisted of watching Jerry Springer and Judge Judy. She also loved the Price is Right. Betty had a witty and spicy attitude, and she will certainly be missed by her loving family and friends.
Betty is survived by her children, Marilyn L. Love, Charles (Lynne) French and David French; her siblings, Linda (Floyd) Forbes and Frederick Burghdorf Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Dawn French; her grandchildren, Allie, Matthew, Richard Jr. and Greg French, Tondra Corradini, Ronald Alexander French Jr., Samantha Logue, Lewis La Fleur Jr., Christopher La Fleur, Crystal French and Candice Tringali; her favorite grandkids and forever homies, Melissa La Fleur, Nicole Wrench and Zach French; her longtime friend, John Jack Voorhees; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband, Charles French; her children, Cynthia La Fleur and Ronald and Richard French; her son-in-law, Robert Love; her brothers, Alan and Richard Burghdorf; and her granddaughter, Alaina French.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 19, from 3 to 6 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 6 p.m., in White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South Street, Auburn. Burial will be held privately for family.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Betty's name to the American Cancer Society or the MS Society.
