Peachtown Elementary School will submit a formal proposal asking Wells College's board of trustees to gift the cottage that the school has rented since 1992.聽

Peachtown launched a聽聽urging the college's board of trustees to donate the property to the school. As of Monday, the petition has 959 signatures.聽

"As long as all of Wells' debts are paid, they should be able to gift their assets in this way," Gunderson said.聽
Wells College, which closed June 30, is working with the state attorney general's office to dispose of its assets. The process affects Peachtown and the Community Medical Center, both of which are located on the college's campus.聽聽
Gunderson said Peachtown is exploring other options, which include buying the property from Wells. If the college does not gift or sell the property to the school, she said they received "a very generous offer" for an alternative site.聽
Peachtown was founded in 1990 and located on Main Street in Aurora until it moved to the Wells College campus in 1992. The school's founder, Barbara Post, is a Wells College alumna.聽
Gunderson previously told 新加坡多多开奖记录 that the arrangement benefited both institutions. Peachtown hosted preservice teachers from the college's education department, while elementary school students could use other facilities on the Wells campus, including the gymnasium and pool.聽
In the 2023-24 school year, Peachtown had 27 students in prekindergarten through eighth grade.聽
With the new school year weeks away, Gunderson said Peachtown is "well positioned to open in September and to serve our students for years to come." She lauded the school's board members, including Post, for their work on the matter.聽
"We have a very generous, creative and resourceful community rallying behind us and we're going to be OK!" Gunderson added.聽
